Music for Young Children classes 2011/12

 
CORE MUSIC FOR YOUNG CHILDREN® PROGRAMS:

These are programs designed specifically to suit the learning needs of various age groups.  Within each core program, there are several different levels of class.  The Level I classes are for beginners of all ages.  Each program advances through levels II and III depending on the childs experience.  The allows a class that is age and curriculum appropriate for every learner.

SUNSHINE® (ages 3 1/2 to 5)

This program introduces children to the keyboard, while teaching rhythm, song, and notes.  It involves repetition so that your child can try it once, digest what they've learned, do it again, and feel confident!  These are group keyboard classes which promotes comfort when playing the keyboard in front of others.
  • Child and adult come to class once a week for a 60 minute class
  • The program runs for 36 weeks from mid-September to mid-June
  • There are organized practice activities to be completed at home each week
 
SUNBEAM® (ages 5 to 7)

This program is ideal for kindergartners and first graders and provides “big kid” lyrics to introduce concepts, finger numbers and keyboard geography. Songs and games are used to encourage and reinforce listening.
  • Child and adult come to class once a week for a 60 minute class
  • The program runs for 36 weeks from mid-September to mid-June
  • There are organized practice activities to be completed at home each week
 
MOONBEAM® (ages 7 to 10)

This program involves learning songs, playing rhythm and keyboard ensembles, and keyboard repetoire.  Students are developing their listening and sight reading skills. Students at the final level, Moonbeams III, are thoroughly prepared for Grade One Conservatory examinations.
  • Child and adult come to class once a week for a 60 minute class
  • The program runs for 36 weeks from mid-September to mid-June
  • There are organized practice activities to be completed at home each week
 
TUITION FEES for CORE PROGRAMS:
$720 per year (tax incl.)

REGISTRATION AND MATERIALS FEE for CORE PROGRAMS:
$165 (tax incl.) - this includes all of the books needed for the year


SUNRISE® PROGRAM:

This is a wonderful program to introduce children (ages 2 to 3 1/2) to the magic of music in a fun way.  Children also get to interact with other young children and have the security of an adult being present with them.
  • The Sunrise class involves learning rhythm and song through movement
  • Child and adult come to class once a week for a 45 minute class
  • The program runs in 10 week sessions
  • There are 3 sessions (of 10 weeks each) offered throughout the year
  • The sessions are set up to be taken consecutively
  • The first session will begin mid-September.

TUITION FEES for SUNRISE PROGRAM:

The total cost for the 10 weeks and all materials is $165 (tax incl.) - this includes the book, CD, rhythm instrument and finger puppet

One payment due on or before September 1st, 2010
$670 ($720 minus $50 discount for full payment)

Three post-dated cheques: Sept. 1st, Dec. 1st and Apr. 1st
$240 x 3 (no prepayment discount)

Ten post-dated cheques: Sept. 1st thru June 1st
$72.00 per month (no prepayment discount)

Full payment discount: $50 discount if paying in full by September 1st, 2010
Sibling Discount: $20 tuition discount for each sibling in a core program
